Why this one, and when not to use it
Ledger is the template most people should start with. It looks like the invoice your accountant already knows how to read: a clear header block, ruled line items, and a totals panel that shows every tax component separately instead of collapsing them into one vague "tax" row.
That last part matters more than it sounds. If you raise a GST invoice in India, CGST and SGST have to be shown separately with their own rates. If you are VAT-registered in the EU, the rate and the amount must both appear. Ledger prints all of it without you configuring anything — the builder computes the components and the template lays them out.
Because it is a free template there is no watermark, no page limit and no locked features. You can send a Ledger invoice to a Fortune 500 accounts-payable team and nothing on the page will suggest it came from a free tool.
